Heylos,
Apon Arun's request I am posting my subject wise marks. I invite all of you also to post your marksheets as it would give us a good idea of what UPSC has been upto this year.
On a personal note I have been given good marks in the interview when I thought I had done tragically in it. Alas, the tragedy lay elsewhere- UPSC has screwed me in the written.
Anyways, here goes...

Rank 648 in this year's lottery. Big fan of your blog. Especially the posts on ARC-II. Its somewhat saddening seeing you leave this part of the blogosphere, to be honest. Am Gearing up for another shot at it. My sincerest best wishes to you for your future endeavours, Miss.

Congratulations to Jhinu and my commiserations to Bharat and Arun.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say its indeed very disheartening. I don't know what to do now or even advise. I thought I had written a wonderful essay- and am not at all convinced of my marks there-86!.
Phew...even if i was contemplating writing another time, these marks would have discouraged me as I see no correlation between an improved effort and improved marks. But then again, maybe what I am thinking was improved was not really so.
All those who are writing again, please introspect about what UPSC is looking for-analyse the question-papers, and prepare accordingly. Doing the same thing better is not enough anymore. We need to do things differently.
upsc has become a lottery..they have targted optionals like pub ad and pali, geography..but given decent marks in history, sociology, hindi lite, economics, there ware 1o people with law in top 100, 10 with economics, 11 from hindi literature....how this is justified..lottery and luck ....

NICE ROLL NO SPURTHI !
I have lost my faith in this system. It has indeed become a lottery. Those morons at UPSC sitting in AC chambers, blissfully ignorant of what aspirants put into this exam, decide which all optionals should they slaughter. I just dont get this.. Why give choice of choosing optionals and then butcher it? Litt guys made merry this time. You slog it all you want in Pub Ad and you get 25s, 35s in Paper 1, while Mallu litt. gives you 200+ in a single paper. I bow down to the awesomeness of UPSC.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous:they tried to improve the system but politicians screwed it..isn't? best way to judge is all common papers and no optionals at all.. and u cant stop this blame game because atleast some optionals get advantage every time not only litt...
ReplyDelete@spurthi : do you have the marks of your friend Harshita. if so, can you please post it here... just curiosity
ReplyDeletethe only way to judge every body fairly is to have no optionls, no scaling. Its sad that PUB Ad was screwed this time....but historically this subject was one of the scoring subjects. some other optionals such as ECONOMICS have always been marked harshly(besides the subject itself being tough).
ReplyDeletePraveen
Over the last two-three years the pattern has been High marks for languages and low marks for Social science subjects scoring low. I think since they have taken out the optional in prelims, they judge the mains more strict. The exam is more inclined to luck factor, now, than the work factor. Anyways since this time influence of optional is less hope we will be seeing new patterns.
ReplyDelete@Arun: I dont have Haritha's marksheet now but if I get it I shall certainly post it. :)
ReplyDelete@Spurthi : thank you.. any idea on good geography test series in delhi...any of your friends and members of this group kindly let me know..
