Neil Armstrong

Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon, died in August 2012, at the age of 82. Armstrong's words on the landing: "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" summed up the moment.
Armstrong commanded the Apollo 11 spacecraft which landed on the moon in 1969. He and 'Buzz' Aldrin were the first two men who set foot on the moon. Their third colleague, Michael Collins, remained in the lunar orbit till the other two returned from the surface after 15 hours.
